A dramatic opening bridge - for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport - is proposed on Auckland's city waterfront. Auckland City Council is looking for outstanding design innovation, excellence and creativity. Te Wero Bridge will connect the city with the soon-to-be-developed Wynyard Quarter. Viaduct Harbour is well-known to international sailors, Aucklanders (who passionately love their waterfront), New Zealanders and visitors from around the world. The bridge will complete a continuous waterfront connection between downtown Auckland and Wynyard Quarter to the west. Construction is expected to finish by early 2011. A project budget of NZ$35 million has been established.
