DESIGN CHALLENGE:
The Købmagergade street and the two squares Hauser Plads and Kultorvet have a central location in the historic city centre of Copenhagen. Each day, thousands of people pass or gather in the area, including many tourists. The area is a predominant element in many people’s perception of Copenhagen and even of Denmark as a whole.
With this competition, the City of Copenhagen wishes to obtain proposals for revitalisation and renovation of Købmagergade, Hauser Plads and Kultorvet based on a conceptual approach.
Entries should include proposals for the future layout of Kultorvet and Hauser Plads, the square at Trinitatis Church, new squares and open spaces as well as principles to govern the layout of Købmagergade and the part of Frederiksborggade that is located between Kultorvet and Nørre Voldgade.
It is the intention of the City of Copenhagen to ask the finally selected winner(s) to act as lead consultant(s) in connection with the realisation of the winning project. It is assumed that the firm of architects, landscape designers or engineers in question will be entrusted with the consultancy assignment, which means that the consultancy services are to be provided by a single firm acting as lead consultant with a number of subconsultants. Detailed information about the application requirements is given in the EU contract notice.
