THE COMPETITION:
The Ministry of Environmental Protection has launched a conceptual green building design competition. The competition follows the publication of Israel Standard 5281 for buildings with reduced environmental impact (green buildings). The standard, which was spearheaded by the Ministry of Environmental Protection within the framework of the Standards Institution of Israel, was approved in November 2005. Participants will be required to plan a residential building in the Tel Aviv area, adjacent to the seashore, an area which is representative, from a planning point of view, of many high demand areas in Israel.
