Awards:

For each category (clothing, food, shelter, and transport), there will be a first, second and third prize. First prize winners of each categories will be invited to unveil and exhibit their designs at INBAR’s Pavilion in the World Expo in Shanghai in October 2010.

Design Challenge:

INBAR is joining the World Expo Shanghai 2010, which takes place from May – October 2010 in Shanghai, China. To celebrate the participation of INBAR together with partners around the world, INBAR in cooperation with the Federation of Hong Kong Industries is organizing a Bamboo and / or Rattan Product Ideas Competition. This International competition will promote links between entrepreneurs, designers, community producers and institutions working with bamboo and / or rattan to promote bamboo and / or rattan as a raw material for high-end and innovative products and as a valuable, green, sustainable and modern product. Existing initiatives working with bamboo – rattan and innovators working in new ways and with new technologies are especially encouraged to participate.

The goal of the competition is to provide support for new innovative ideas coming from communities, projects, designers and enterprises and through the sponsorship of the private sector an opportunity to initiate actual commercial production of the winning designs. The selected product designs, initiatives and innovations will be exhibited and published. The competitors will be provided a window to the world for their ideas during an exposition of the selected designs at the World Shanghai Expo 2010 in China.

One submission will be accepted from an individual or team of collaborators for each category.

By submitting an idea, in whichever form, the competitor warrants that it is his/her/their original work and that they own and have permission to publish the material.

Sending in materials may send electronically by email or via the following link of websites etc. or submissions. All submissions have to be received before the deadline. Any submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.

The competition invites submissions of ideas in any format (drawings, designs, audiovisual materials, products, etc.)

Prizewinners will be individuals representing themselves or the organisation on behalf of which the idea is submitted.
