2004-2005 INSTALLATION ON MALL B PART OF THE DANIEL BURNHAM GROUP PLAN

Eligibility: This project is open to all. Artists, architects, designers, galleries, students, etc. over the age of 18 are encouraged to submit.
Timetable:
29 August 2003 - Deadline for submissions
30 September 2003 - Phase One - Commission Concept Proposals
31 October 2003 - Phase Two - Select winning proposal
Awards: 4 finalists will receive $2000. to create a formal proposal plus $1000. for travel to the final presentation. The winning team will be awarded $18,000. for implementation and $100,000. has been allocated for fabrication, installation and de-installation.
Project: The duration of the installation is proposed from Spring 2004 to Fall 2005. This is not a permanent installation. All modifications to the site must be reversible after the installation is removed. The grass area is approximately 80’ x 160’. The site has loading constraints that require loads to be placed on horizontal beams that carry the loads over the parking garage below. Also, concepts must be wind and weather resistant. What to Submit:
Artists/ Teams interested in this project are invited to submit the following materials: 1.) A brief statement of intent (no more than 350 typewritten words). This should be a statement of your idea or approach to this installation. Please outline the specific project that you would like to realize on this site.
2.) Up to sixteen (16) 35mm slides (per team) of recent or current work submitted in a clear plastic slide sheet. Each slide must be clearly labeled with your name(s), the title, date, media, and dimension of the work with the TOP indicated. Please include a slide description sheet with corresponding numbers. Larger format transparencies and photographs will not be considered.
3.) A current resume of all team members, including name, address, and phone number.
Material must be received at Cleveland Public Art’s office by 5pm August 29, 2003. Postmarks are not acceptable. Hand deliveries will be accepted.
