Stuttgart’s International Ideas Competition “Space for Ideas”

Location: Area to rear of Stuttgart’s main train station
Type: Open, international, one-stage
Eligibility: Anyone can participate – from individuals to enterprises, from students and schoolchildren to clubs and associations. All ideas are welcome. In particular, participation by international organizations are welcome, so all information will also be available in English.

15 July 2025 – Submission of ideas via digital platform
Awards:
Total prize money of €30,000 is available.
Jury:
The jury consists of citizens, members of the municipal council, the youth council, First Deputy Mayor Dr. Fabian Mayer and Peter Pätzold, Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning, Housing and Environment, and experts from the fields of culture, economy, tourism, science, architecture/planning, sociology and ecology.
Process:
Up to eight ideas will receive awards. In addition, the jury may commend particularly outstanding submissions.
Site – Stuttgart Rosenstein
With an area of some 60 x 117 metres, the “Space for Ideas” is located next to the skylights of the future station. The area is located at the entrance to the planned Stuttgart Rosenstein neighborhood. Once the new central station is opened, the aboveground track areas will no longer be needed – an opportunity to develop a new neighborhood in the centre of Stuttgart.
