Design challenge:
• The Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Main Building is classified as an aging building, completed 49 years ago in 1976, and ongoing repair costs are incurred to prevent safety incidents and maintain facilities.
• Due to the cramped main building relative to growing administrative demand, facility operations have been dispersed across two annex buildings, causing inconvenience to the public and reducing administrative efficiency. Therefore, an integrated government office complex that organically links all departments is required.
• Along with performing administrative tasks, the complex seeks to provide public services that support local residents’ cultural, educational, and community activities along with performing administrative duties.
• By selecting from a wide range of ideas and works from both home and abroad, this project aims to foster pride among Yeongdeungpo-gu residents by creating a regional landmark with creative and symbolic design.
